A 25 year old UVM Business School graduate, fast tracking in a primitive tech industry that she frankly hated, sat in her doctors office with a bout of stress induced shingles: “If you had a blank check what would you do with yourself?” Asked the doctor. “I would go to culinary school.” She replied without hesitation, and in that moment, and with moderate thanks to shingles, Patty Nusser’s life changed forever…

Professionally trained at the Culinary Institute of America, graduate Chef Patty Nusser was offered a role at the then fledgling Food Network, where she diversified in food media production, recipe testing and food presentation, before selling her car to fund a move to Italy, enrolling in Italian culinary school, and spending the months that followed developing her cooking, visiting farms and wineries, and working in a Michelin starred restaurant.
On her return to New York, Patty was approached to become part of the team that would launch Mario Batali’s ‘Babbo’ - winning the James Beard Award for best new restaurant in 1999. While at Babbo, Patty met her future husband; fellow chef Andy. Moving from Babbo to a prominent New York event catering catering company, Patty cooked for hundreds daily at launches and premieres, while also recipe testing for Condé Nast’s ‘Bon Appétit’ magazine and the cook books of Mario Batali and the James Beard Foundation.
Following the birth of her two kids, Patty accepted a role as private chef to a Connecticut based family, for whom she cooked for several years.
As a time-short working mother with a young family Patty saw a need for fresh, nutritious meals that are ready to eat, heat, or freeze for later, which could be created not just for one client, but for multiple families, couples and individuals across NYC and Westchester. Food that is cooked specifically for the individual lifestyle and dietary needs of each client, made in quantities that suit the household, and served in containers with minimal environmental waste. Patty brought her vision to life, and now, over twenty years later, more than half of Patty’s original founding clients remain with her to this day.
In addition to personal chef meal preparation, Chef Patty Nusser also caters private events in NYC and Westchester. Events span hors d’oeuvres and light bite cocktail gatherings, to buffet and sit down dining. Patty’s signature food gifts span custom new baby, new home, and recovery meals, to carb-loading marathon meal prep, summer picnics, ‘dinner on me’ gift cards, and single week personal chef subscriptions.
